Interesting how “accepted the deal” and “proposed an entirely new deal” apparently means the same thing to news reporters.

Trump claims the payments to Michael Cohen was for legal fees

But Cohen was IN-HOUSE! He was the general counsel of the Trump Organization. He had a salary.

You don’t pay “fees” to your salaried in-house counsel.

One more reason Trump’s excuse is garbage.

You know something has gone terribly wrong when 94% of teachers have to dip into their own pockets to buy school supplies while the average Wall Street employee gets a bonus of $176,500. Hello?

Remember, the Holocaust didn’t start with gas chambers.

It started with politicians dividing the people with “us vs. them”.

It started with intolerance and hate speech.

It started when people stopped caring, became desensitized, and turned a blind eye.

Remember.

On the bros trying to build cities in Solano and elsewhere:

“What seems to be happening is people really want to ‘stay in San Francisco,’ but they want to exit society. … They don’t want to have to deal with the complexity, the differences, the poverty, the needs, the caring for others that was always part of urban culture. They want to escape. They want their own currency, their own culture, their own people. And they wanted it to look like Disneyland.”

I cannot communicate how much I hate the "long press--to do things" interface pattern.

What does it do? No idea; every control is different.

Is it discoverable? Only in the way the corner of a coffee table is discoverable by your shin.

Is it accessible to folks with motor control issues, or who use screen readers? Also no.

Gah. #ux #accessibility #badInterfaceNoCookie

When I was a kid I figured out that if I wanted to know how the magician did a trick I shouldn't look where they pointed. Then I figured out that this didn't just apply to magicians, but to politicians, media, clergy, and more.
A whole bunch of folks have not figured this out.

Organized right-wing groups starting violent confrontations with left-wing demonstrations to create a sense of chaos and get the state to intervene on their side is a little too on the nose for the 1920s and 1930s.

So, why are so many executives and investors overlooking this very basic reality that code produced is code which must be maintained, and that an acceleration of code produced thanks to gen AI means ~more risk~, not just more $$$?

I have friends who are Principal Engineers asking themselves this very question right now.

And in response, I point us to the classic Upton Sinclair quote:
“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”
