I've never understood the "get out of jail free" card given to religion for criminal fraud.
They enjoy the same near impunity from the law for threat funding, money laundering, drug trafficking, tax evasion, slavery, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, election interference, civil rights rollbacks, voter suppression, labor law violations, child marriage, and bigotry.
Everyone talks about the puppy, but hardly anyone mentions the beautiful coat she’s making.
I find it notable that when the police brutalize people, a significant number of people observing this will blame the actions of the police on someone else. It is almost like they believe that police officers have no agency of their own.
Maybe they just like to beat up on people and it doesn't matter to them if they are asked to do so by a University or an elected representative, they are there to inflict cruelty, period.

Why has nobody apparently pointed out to the supreme court, those bastions of textualism, that the Constitution actually defined the start of personhood in the 14th amendment. It literally says "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."
Persons born. In defining citizenship, it also defines the start of personhood. It doesn't say all persons in utero. All persons born.
Constitutionally a fetus is explicitly not recognized as a person, with no rights.
When you can understand why there weren't mass arrests of the proud boys, or mass arrests at Jan 6, but there were mass arrests at BLM protests, and there are mass arrests on college campuses... you'll be one step closer to understanding free speech in America.
I don't think even Trump would just go out and SHOOT a puppy who wasn't behaving. He'd just say "get it the hell out of here!" or some such, and move on. That the Governor of South Dakota -- on Trump's VP short list -- apparently is so proud of shooting a defenseless puppy and other animals that she writes about it in a book, perhaps suggests a sadistic streak that is a common hallmark of many murderers currently in prison.

USC canceled their commencement ceremony because they rightfully got called out for telling the valedictorian that she won't have her commencement speech, because she said something in defense of Palestinian lives on social media. So instead of apologizing and reinstating her, they decided to just cancel commencement instead. Very logical.
