@tomjennings Yes. Everyone extended Pascal to make it useful and all the extensions were different. Some of the follow-on languages were pretty good, e.g. Mesa.

@jef @tomjennings I was always offended that strict typing was for thee but not for me. There were primitives that were necessary for real programs to run that disobeyed that, but only Wirth was allowed to create them and pretend that they didn't need to exist.

@lou @tomjennings Yeah, letting users declare polymorphic procedures like write()/writeln() would have been a huge improvement.
