Getting hands-on experience in government programs. I've been accepted for medicare part a and b and am now applying for medicare supplement plan. If this devious plan works, my spend on health insurance will go from $1800/month for a pretty awful small business plan to $180/month, but lots of traps. Oh to be in any other country. US does not do this well.
This reaching 65 milestone is overrated. It has not occurred yet, but is imminent. But, for a couple of years now, I've had rare but rememberable interactions in which people ask me if I'm retired. I've never understood what it is about my behavior that leads people to think I'm retired. I don't feel like I project "retired."
If you ask me “are you actually employed” I would greatly prefer that to “are you retired.”
