@lou Planning to come down to Santa Clara week after next to crash ATC?

@oclsc I just looked at the program and there seems to be only one paper I'd like to hear. I am also astonished by the overall preponderance of Indian and Oriental presenters. Will you be in SF or environs for a finite amount of time on this trip?

@lou Only long enough for the conference this time, then up to Portland for a few days. Will probably be at either FAST or SREcon next spring, though--both at the same place!--and probably will hang about more then, likely up in Cow Hollow which has become a favourite base for me.

@oclsc Please post when you start your rail travel - it is just fun to "follow the bouncing ball" (an obscure? reference for those over 70)

@lou I remember a DECUS at which someone in the AI SIG wanted to make a follow-the-bouncing-ball for a sing-along to Flanders and Swan's sloth song. On a Mac, in Hypercard. Every added line affected the timing. She had to play the song over and over and over to get it all timed right.

@lou You must not have looked at a systems-conference program for quite a while. Lots of good work being done in Asia these days, especially China and Korea.

Correct@oclsc@mstdn.ca Correct. The work looked good from the titles, but I was surprised both at the huge number of authors per submission and the relative absence of US submissions.
