Journalists: If your headline says that so-and-so is suing someone for x billion dollars, you're doing PR for the plaintiff.

Anyone can sue anyone else for any amount of money. The requested amount is nothing but clickbait.

That's why you keep falling for it, I suppose.

@dangillmor Journalists not only do not write the headlines on their articles, they are usually powerless to object, change or correct what is done.

@lou 1) Editors are journalists. 2) Increasingly, reporters do write or contribute to headlines. 3) The second paragraph of the story highlights the preposterous money demand, which made it into the headline.
