Look, yall. I’m from Chicago, all I hear incessantly even from some people actually in the suburbs is how scary and dangerous the city is. Seems okay to bike around to me, and I travel lots of risky places solo, too.
I’m driving across Arkansas today. Did a lot of neat stuff, otherwise, but in transit I drove through this rural town. The first thing I see is a huge sign with a curfew prohibiting anyone from being outside after dark. The second sign is a suicide hotline billboard. The downtown is 3/4 abandoned and smashed other than a dollar store. Looks like a zombie movie.
My siblings in Dionysus…, I have indeed tried it in a small town. I left quickly.

@Green_Footballs Unless you have copies of all your posts, you have fallen into the trap of expecting others, whose interests are NOT yours, to guard your work. This is painfully true when you did not pay for the facilities you used. Disk drives are cheap. Always maintain full copies of anything you care about on YOUR OWN property.

Police used DNA and probability software to invent a likely face for a subject and then put that fake face through face recognition software. @jef @tomjennings I was always offended that strict typing was for thee but not for me. There were primitives that were necessary for real programs to run that disobeyed that, but only Wirth was allowed to create them and pretend that they didn't need to exist.
